If VirtueMart warns that the Safe Path is not accessible (older versions said "Key folder in safepath unaccessible"), it is not a template problem. VirtueMart needs a private folder on your server to store invoices and keys, and the Safe Path setting tells it where that folder is.
You will usually see this on a new install, including our Quickstarts, because the right folder depends on your own hosting.
Set the Safe Path
- Create a folder that can't be reached from the web, outside your site's public_html folder, for example /home/youraccount/vmfiles/.
- Inside it, create two folders named invoices and keys.
- In your Joomla administrator, go to Components → VirtueMart → Configuration and open the Templates tab.
- In Safe Path, enter the full server path of the folder from step 1. VirtueMart's warning message also suggests a path for your server that you can use.
- Click Save. The warning should go away.
If VirtueMart then says it can't write to the folder, ask your host to check the folder's permissions for your hosting account.
