Installing a template on its own changes the styles of your site, but the demo's look also comes from its menus, modules, images, VirtueMart categories, sample products and template settings. Those are not part of the template file, so a fresh install looks much plainer than the demo.
The quick way: install the Quickstart
Every template comes with a Quickstart: a complete Joomla 5 site with the template and all the demo content, set up exactly like the demo. Use it for a new shop, then replace the sample content with your own. How to install the Quickstart.
On a site you already have
- Make sure the template is your default template: System → Site Template Styles, then click the star next to your template.
- Set VirtueMart to use it as described in your template's documentation (Components → VirtueMart → Configuration → Templates tab).
- Publish your modules in the template's module positions. Your template's documentation lists every position and shows the settings used on the demo. To see the positions on your own site, read How can I view the template module positions.
- Clear Joomla's cache (System → Clear Cache) and reload the page.
