There is no default administrator password. When you install one of our Joomla 5 Quickstarts, Joomla's installer asks you to create your own administrator account (your name, a username, a password and your email). That account is your Super User. How to install the Quickstart.
We stopped shipping a shared username and password because many sites never changed it, which put them at risk.
I have forgotten the password
- On your administrator login page, use Forgot your password? Joomla emails you a reset link, if your site can send email.
- If email isn't working, you can set a new password directly in the database. How to reset your Joomla admin password via phpMyAdmin.
Old Joomla 3 and Joomla 4 quickstarts
The old .jpa quickstarts asked for a new administrator password during the restore. If you skipped that step, use the phpMyAdmin method above to set one.
