    Joomla 5.4.10. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 5.4.10 (Joomla 5.4.10 release notes), and the template version is now 5.4.10 to match.

    Error pages. "Page not found" and "access denied" pages now show inside the template, with its header, menus and footer, and fit a phone screen.

    Phones. Pages no longer scroll sideways.

    Category pages. The category description lines up with the products (no extra space at the sides).

    Quickstart. A fresh install no longer lists stale update notices. Includes MCP for Joomla 2.8.3.

    Quickstart install fix. The quickstart now installs completely on MySQL databases. Before, the Joomla installer stopped part-way through on MySQL hosts; MariaDB hosts were not affected. Thanks to Iryna for reporting this.

    Version 5.4.8.3

    Fix for the previous update. After the security update of 28 September, pages the template shows in its "component" view stopped with a server error ("Call to undefined function phEsc()"). That view is used for print pages, pop-up windows and the VirtueMart cart and checkout steps. The helper those pages need is now included, and they work again. There are no other changes. Recommended for every site that installed the previous version.

    Version 5.4.8.2

    Security update. Every template setting that is written into your pages is now escaped for the place it lands in (HTML, attributes, CSS and JavaScript), including the site name and slogan in image alt text, and module, menu and tab titles wherever the template prints them (module headings, title attributes and the mega menu). A setting or title containing a quote or markup can no longer break out of its place in the page. The error page escapes its message and title too. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.

    Version 5.4.8.1

    Maintenance release.

    • Joomla 3 compatibility code removed throughout the template. The template's PHP now uses Joomla's current API everywhere — the template files, the component override and every layout override (cart, checkout, product details, login and the modules). The old code only worked while Joomla's Behaviour – Backward Compatibility plugin was switched on, and will not work at all on Joomla 6. The most serious case was the error page: when it failed, Joomla could not display any error page, so an ordinary “page not found” was served to your visitors as a 500 server error.

    Both the template package and the Quick Start have been rebuilt for this release. Download the latest from your member area.

    Version 5.4.8

    Platform maintenance release. The bundled Quick Start now installs Joomla 5.4.8 and VirtueMart 4.8.0, and the template version now tracks the Joomla version it is built and tested against.

    Security

    • VirtueMart updated to 4.8.0 — security release. The Quick Start previously bundled VirtueMart 4.6.8. VirtueMart 4.8.0 is a security release published by the VirtueMart team, and the demo this package is built from has been updated to it. This matters for existing stores too: installing this template package does not update VirtueMart on a site you already run, so if your store was built from an earlier Quick Start please update VirtueMart there as well, through Joomla's own Extensions → Update screen.

    Removed

    • A stale 707 KB copy of the template was being shipped inside the Quick Start. The Quick Start carried templates/transform.zip, an old archived copy of the template (334 files) sitting beside the live template folder. Nothing referenced it and nothing used it; it is gone from this build.

    Fixed

    • The Quick Start left a dead "aeon" entry in Site Template Styles. A fresh install showed a template style named "aeon" under System → Site Template Styles. That template is not part of this package, so the entry pointed at nothing. No menu item referenced it, so nothing that was working stops working.

    Changed

    • The Quick Start now installs Joomla 5.4.8. The previous Quick Start bundled Joomla 5.4.7. Starting a new site from the Quick Start now gives you the current Joomla release without an immediate update afterwards.
    • Version numbering has changed. From this release the template version matches the Joomla version it is built and tested against, so Transform 5.4.8 is the build for Joomla 5.4.8. The previous number for this template was 5.4.0.1. Nothing about how you install or update the template changes, and Joomla still treats 5.4.8 as newer than 5.4.0.1.

    Notes

    • No template file changed between 5.4.0.1 and 5.4.8 — verified by a file-by-file comparison of the shipped 5.4.0.1 package against the donor. This release is the platform refresh described above.
    • No template-parameter or database changes — the template package installs as a straight overwrite.

    Version 5.4.0.1

    Maintenance release — fixes for issues found in real-world use on a live production site. With thanks to Michael Mullan, whose Expression bug report led to this maintenance pass across our templates.

    • Fixed: search-module icon rendered as a stray character — the Joomla 3 jui icon font was removed from Joomla core in Joomla 4, so the glyph fell back to a literal character and the dead font reference 404'd on every page. The icon is now a self-contained SVG.
    • Fixed: pagination arrows (first/previous/next/last) rendered as empty squares — Joomla 4+ uses newer icon class names the template never mapped. Now self-contained SVGs.
    • Fixed: featured/blog articles showing only their title — tall single-column intro articles were clipped by the blog layout CSS.
    • Improved: search button sits snug against the search input.
    • Fixed: the template version shown after install now tracks the real release version.

    First Joomla 5 native release. Transform has been rebuilt for Joomla 5.4 + VirtueMart 4.6.8 + PHP 8.3 + Bootstrap 5 + Swiper 11 + Font Awesome 6, with the Camera slideshow library, the Superfish/Supersubs menu stack, jQuery 1.8, the IE-era polyfills, and the Bootstrap 2 framework files fully retired. It ships with a from-scratch mobile experience — hamburger drawer navigation, a five-icon mobile utility row, popup login — a modern 13-network social set, hardened output escaping across the template and its VirtueMart overrides, and Joomla-5-native admin form controls throughout the Template Style settings.

    Added

    Bootstrap 5 framework layer

    • Joomla core Bootstrap 5 now powers the layout, with a purpose-built bs2-bs5-bridge.css preserving Transform's original grid geometry (1170px container, 1170-grid column percentages) on top of the modern framework.
    • Bootstrap 5 login popup — the My Account modal uses native BS5 markup (centered dialog, backdrop, close button) and opens as a true popup on desktop and mobile. Includes a compatibility shim so the popup triggers work with Joomla 5's ES-module Bootstrap loader.

    Swiper 11 slideshow (replaces Camera.js)

    • Built-in slideshow re-implemented on Swiper 11 with fade/cross-fade transitions, matching the original slideshow's parameters (timing, autoplay, hover-pause, pause-on-click).
    • Theme-preset-driven pagination dots (each of the six color presets keeps its own dot color) and Font Awesome chevron navigation arrows, dead-centered in their circles.

    Mobile experience (all-new)

    • Hamburger drawer navigation — large touch-friendly toggle, full-width centered menu items, accordion sub-menus with single-branch-open behaviour and circular +/− indicator chips, full-width sub-menu bands.
    • Mobile utility row under the logo: Shop Menu · Account · Register · Search · Cart — icons with labels, one midline. The Shop Menu opens the store-category drawer on every page; Search drops a full-width panel with an auto-focused input; Account opens the login popup.
    • Partner/brand logos display two-per-row on phones; footer and product columns stack cleanly.

    Modern social set (13 networks)

    • Added Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest and Discord alongside X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, Vimeo and RSS — all rendered with Font Awesome 6 brand glyphs, accessible screen-reader labels, and rel="noopener" on outbound links.

    Admin & theming

    • All 43 on/off template options converted to Joomla 5 native switchers in the Template Style settings.
    • Font Awesome 6.5.2 with the v4 compatibility shim, replacing the legacy 4.7/5.0 CDN loads.
    • Template pages now expose option-*/view-* body classes; product-promotion modules automatically stay off the account, registration and login pages.

    Changed

    • Slideshow height standardised at 440px on desktop with the pagination dots visible inside the slide area (the old bottom fade overlay is gone).
    • Standalone column widths converted from fixed pixels to 1170-grid percentages, so footer and module columns fill the full content width at every size.
    • Version metadata synchronised everywhere it appears (manifest version, creation date, Description-tab display string); author URL now https; canonical copyright line.
    • Post-install messages start hidden on fresh installs; update-site records cleaned (dead vendors disabled, malformed URLs repaired, duplicates removed).
    • Footer copyright year updated.

    Fixed

    • Bootstrap 5 flex-row height cascade that could stretch stacked content modules to 1000px+ each (page ran almost twice its intended length) — module rows now take natural content height.
    • Sidebar module overlap where the PUMA promo box (and its SPECIAL ribbon) could bleed into the MAIN MENU block.
    • Follow Us social dropdown showing permanently — restored hover-reveal behaviour lost with the legacy menu library.
    • Menu dropdowns and mobile menu re-implemented in dependency-free vanilla JavaScript (hover-delay preserved) after the Superfish/Supersubs removal; body background images use native CSS cover sizing instead of the Backstretch plugin.
    • Colored-letter logo titles (HTML in the site-title fields) render correctly.
    • Login popup no longer races a legacy jQuery toggle handler; the bullet markers on the popup's helper links are gone.
    • Legacy Joomla 3 behavior.formvalidation call in the VirtueMart login override replaced with the Joomla 5 behavior.formvalidator — fixes a fatal error on the login form under Joomla 5. Thanks to Zoltán for the report.
    • Removed stale stylesheet references (camera.css imports, bootstrap-rtl link, JUI IcoMoon font paths) that produced browser console errors — the template now loads with zero console errors.

    Security

    • 170 output-escaping wraps added across the template entry-point and VirtueMart overrides (template parameters, product names and descriptions, custom-field titles, user display names).
    • Full security review of all 28 template overrides — no remote-code-execution, SQL-injection or backdoor patterns present.
    • Dead MooTools-era VirtueMart override files (userj3) removed; legacy Bootstrap 2 framework files and orphaned Cassiopeia overrides removed.

    Removed

    • Camera.js slideshow stack (camera.js, jquery.easing, jquery.mobile), bundled jQuery 1.8.1, Backstretch, Owl Carousel, Selectnav, Dropkick — all legacy JavaScript retired.
    • Bootstrap 2 CSS/JS files, IE conditional blocks, and the IE-era polyfills (Modernizr, Selectivizr, html5shiv, Flexibility).
    • Dead social networks: Google+, MySpace, StumbleUpon, Digg, Blogger.
    • Unused sibling templates from the install (horme_3, vmbasic, vmbeez3).

    Quickstart

    • Complete Joomla 5.4.7 site with VirtueMart 4.6.8 and Weblinks 5.1.0, installed through the standard Joomla web installer — no Akeeba Kickstart needed.
    • Ships with StageIt (staging/cloning workflow) and MCP for Joomla preinstalled.
    • Demo data included; hit counters zeroed; no personal data in the database dump.

    Package format

    • Template ships as the Joomla package pkg_transform-5.4.0.zip — installs/upgrades in place over any earlier Transform install and registers the update server for future one-click updates.
